Shadow Friend?

They’re called yes-men, flatterers, and fair-weather-friends. While it might feel good to have your ego constantly stroked, do “friends” like these really serve you well? For this Inspire Point, consider the following quote:

I don’t need a friend who changes when I change and who nods when I nod; my shadow does that much better. ~Plutarch

Surround yourself with people who are straight shooters; friends who will tell it like it is, whether it is uncomfortable or not. And be the kind of friend who would do the same for your friends. Do you really want to play second fiddle to a shadow?

Daily Doable: Don’t be a shadow friend. You’ll never measure up. Instead, ask yourself how can I be the kind of friend my friend really needs? Tell them the truth even when the truth hurts. It’s better for you and your friend.
