Just a Few Good People
Just a few good people is an excerpt from a quote in the movie The Greatest Showman, a fictionalized account of the life of P.T. Barnum.
You don’t need everyone to love you, just a few good people.
~Charity Barnum
Because of his humble upbringing, P.T. Barnum was driven to be loved by everyone. That drive almost cost him the love of those dearest to him.
Is it realistic for everyone to love you? Of course not! Just thinking about what that would take is exhausting. How can you really be you? You can’t!
On the one hand, should you say, “this is who I am, take it or leave it?” That won’t cut it either. So where’s the balance?
I believe we should always, always, always look for ways to better ourselves.
Be it a better husband, a better wife, a better father, a better mother, a better child, a better friend, or a better person, if we’re honest, there is always something we can do to better ourselves.
If you’re working to better yourself and someone doesn’t like you for who you are, so be it. You have done what you could.
Daily Doable: Don’t try to be all things to all people. Be the best version of you, you can be. A few good people WILL love you for who you are.
