The Amazing & Wonderful Benefits of Encouragement

Reciprocate: respond to a gesture or action by making a corresponding one. It comes from the Latin word, which means to move backwards and forwards.

In previous stories, I’ve shared instances where my friends have encouraged me. In each of those stories, there has been a principle in play.

I would like to dig deeper into this principle and look at ways that we can apply it in our lives. And suggest some things that we can do in order to activate this principle.

Today’s topic is reciprocate.

The interesting thing that happens when you do something for someone else is that it comes back to you. It’s not your motivation to see what you can get in return for your actions. No, that’s not the idea at all.

But there is a principle in play because when you do something to encourage another person, it is going to come back to you. And come back to you in ways, you can’t imagine.

To illustrate this principle, I would like to gift you a personal story about something that happened to me a few years ago. I went to encourage a friend for the life-time of encouragement he had given me.

But I left having received one of the most inspiring experiences of my life.

Daily Doable: Do something to encourage a friend because you have the ability to do it. Don’t do it with expectations for anything in return. But know this, it will come back to you.
