Daily Devotionals Day – 24: Sweet Sleep And Many More “So Thats”

A good night’s sleep. Sound wonderful? Read on for that and so much more.

There’s something very peaceful about watching your child sleeping. Add a puppy to the picture and it doesn’t get much better.

Welcome to Day 24 of my 30 Daily Devotional Challenge.

How do you make a concept you are teaching STICK with your children? In this article, we’ll consider the benefits or in other words, “What’s in it for me?”

You’ve probably heard the expression “not a care in the world.” That’s the thought that runs through my mind as I look at this picture of my son Andrew and his puppy.

It’s also the mental picture that scripture paints for those who police their thoughts. It’s one of the many benefits or So Thats available to those who have the discipline to control what they allow into their minds.

The scripture I want to consider in this So Thats Devotion is found in the book of Proverbs, Chapter 3, Verses 21B – 26. The idea of policing or controlling your thoughts is found in the phrase below followed by the benefits it produces.

Keep sound wisdom and discretion; SO THAT…

  • they will be life to your soul
  • they will be grace to your neck
  • you will walk safely in your way
  • your foot will not stumble
  • when you lie down, you will not be afraid
  • when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet
  • you will not be afraid of sudden terror
  • you will not be afraid of trouble from the wicked
  • the LORD will be your confidence

Daily Doable: Think about this list of So Thats and ask yourself if those are things that sound attractive to you. If so, doesn’t it sound more reasonable to control what you allow into your mind?

In my next article, I’ll consider a person who was able to police his thoughts under circumstances that were far from desirable.
Thanks for joining me in this challenge. I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to read this.
