Daily Devotionals Day – 7: A 3,500 Year Old Template For Devotionals
The Time-Tested Template For Devotionals That Will Release Your Imagination To Soar
Welcome to Day 7 of my 30 Daily Devotional Challenge.
On Days 6 and 7, I want to offer some ideas for devotionals.
The challenge parents have is to come up with fresh devotional ideas even when you’ve done them for years. If you find yourself stuck, think of a devotional this way. You’re merely having a conversation about life lessons with your children.
Here is one template that will release your imagination to soar with ideas. It comes from scripture written around 3,500 years ago.
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. ~Deuteronomy 6:6-9
These verses can be templatized into the following sentence.
WHENEVER and WHEREVER the opportunity presents itself, talk about (blank) to your kids.
- It might be at the dinner table.
- It might be on the way to school.
- It might be at the grocery store.
- It might even be when you’re making a Minion costume with your son:)
The point is, whenever and wherever, talk to your children about life lessons. Those conversations will benefit them for years to come. I’ll share more topic ideas as we continue through these 30 days.
I’ll see you tomorrow with another devotional idea.
Thanks for joining me in this challenge. I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to read this.
