It started creeping into my mind and the practical side of me began agreeing with each rational argument for why I wasn’t ready. Why I wasn’t ready to announce my website.
A perfectionist by nature, I always want to do my best and I don’t want anyone to see anything that I don’t consider my best. It’s something that I have had to fight against my entire life.
Building my own platform and launching it to the world is scary. It’s not that I doubt the message I’m conveying but am I the right messenger? And what about all of the things that go into getting the message out there?
Things like…
- Is the website ready?
- Do the links work?
- Do I have enough content?
- What if this, what if that?
Over and over I can think of things I should do before I tell everyone about it. Even as I write this, I can see if I keep explaining this and that, it’s just another excuse for not shipping, for hiding what I have been planning to do for awhile now. Learning is important but action is important too. I finally got to the point where enough was enough.
Three weeks ago, I literally started from ZERO and built a community. People like you to communicate with. I’m not short on a supply of ideas. In fact, ideas are my problem. That might sound crazy, too many ideas? I have so many that I’m constantly starting and stopping, starting and stopping and NEVER EVER getting anything completed.
Trust me, my website isn’t ready today but it’s ready enough:)
You’ve been patient to read this far. So without any further delay, here it is.
The RX For Procrastination In 3 Simple Words

I chuckled when I heard this. In fact, the funny thing about this is I was listening to a training webinar by my coach, Jeff Herring. Those 3 words resonated with me. I typed in the chat that this phrase would make a great t-shirt and that got Jeff to laugh too. Rather than procrastinate, I stayed up late that night and created this graphic.
I could say a lot more about this, AND I WILL, but for now I want this phrase to really sink in. Whatever is holding you back from acting today, STOP IT!
Put it off and Do What You Can Now!
[BTW, don’t be surprised if you see this graphic on a mug and t-shirt very soon, just sayin’]
Worked for me. I just started moving and God opened doors and things are moving. Thanks for clearing the dog Tim.
It’s amazing how that happens. How many doors are just waiting for us?
#DoWhatYouCanNow
I really like this. Quick suggestion: put two smaller graphics on a mug, one on each side, rather than making it so large that it wraps around. That way everyone can read it without turning the mug around.
That’s a GREAT suggestion! I think that’s doable. Stay tuned.
Guilty as charged. My problem is reaching out to people. I am an introvert. Coming out of my shell is very hard and then I kick myself because I know I should have been there for others 😞
Thank you for your encouragement. 👍🏼😊
I’m an introvert too Carol and I’ve kicked myself more times than I care to admit. Thanks for your comments, they encourage me:)
Ha! I can’t stop what I am doing…I’m working and teaching the adult Bible class! But as soon as I am finished the end of May, I will be finishing my book and helping to teach the children’s Bible class with my wife. Always something to do!
Thank you for the encouragement Tim!
Bill you’re doing exactly the right thing; seeing one thing to conclusion before jumping to the next thing. Let us know about the book.
I thought about procrastinating after I spent 10 hours writing
But you didn’t:) That’s perseverance! Thanks Melva.
STOP BEING TIMID AND JUST BE TIM!Your idea is great, content fantastic and the message is direct! Now as to yhe messenger …. yeh, I think he’s doing just fine!
Thanks Michael, I’m doing what I can. Appreciate the encouragement.
What if I produce my cup first with the same words? Will you be plagarizing my cup?
Not at all Marlene. I’ll be using my own art:)
Don’t procrastinate, you may be able to beat me to the punch. 🙂
