I thought I had just killed my boys!
When I saw it, my heart sank. I thought I had just killed my boys.
Friday March 2, 2012 is a day I’ll never forget. The day a tornado ripped apart my hometown. My boys didn’t die that day but five of our neighbors did. The next day, March 3, 2012 is also a day I’ll never forget. Because on that day I learned a lesson that changed my life. A lesson I want to share with you.
The late Fred Lebow, founder of the New York Marathon said,
Never underestimate the power of a T-shirt.
It’s a fascinating metaphor. I’ve tapped into that power over and over. A t-shirt is POWERFUL but it’s not the cotton, the color or the cut. It’s something else; something that goes deeper than the composition of the shirt. A T-shirt can truly inspire. And T-shirts have inspired me. From natural disasters to terminal illnesses to domestic violence, I have found that T-shirts can be an integral component of healing, encouragement and inspiration.
My name is Tim Maudlin. T-shirts That Inspire tell the stories of T-shirts that have inspired me. T-shirts that have allowed me to do what I can. T-shirts that have helped me to do good.
For a small town devastated by a EF-4 tornado, a t-shirt can be a CONDUIT TO A CAUSE and a SYMBOL OF COMMUNITY.
T-SHIRTS THAT INSPIRE: The $89,000 T-shirt (How ONE t-shirt inspired and healed a broken community) tells this story.
